  1. Cinema is the 20th-century form of art and
  2. entertainment consisting of "moving 
  3. pictures" in either black and white or
  4. colour, projected onto a screen. 
  5. The industry dates back to the "silent"
  6. days. Apart from story films, the industry
  7. produced newsreels of current events and
  8. documentaries depicting factual life.
  9. During the 1930s classic dramas and screwball
  10. comedies were made, during the 1940s war 
  11. films dominated the cinema, and during the
  12. 1950s Technicolor musicals competed with
  13. early television. 
  14. Throughout the 1980s cinema production was
  15. affected by the growth during the preceding
  16. decade of the video industry, which made
  17. films available for viewing on home
  18. television screens.
